Information: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN No. 05/2025) for the recruitment of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA), and Chemical/Metallurgical Supervisor (Research) posts. This year, RRB has announced a total of 2569 vacancies across different zones of Indian Railways. The online application process will begin from 31st October 2025, and the last date to submit the application form is 10 December 2025 through the official website rrbapply.gov.in.

Educational qualification:

CBT-I (First Stage)
- Total questions: 100
- Total marks: 100
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Section wise (as in the notification excerpt you shared):
- Mathematics — 30 Qs — 30 marks
- General Intelligence & Reasoning — 25 Qs — 25 marks
- General Awareness — 15 Qs — 15 marks
- General Science — 30 Qs — 30 marks
- Negative marking: 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.
CBT-I is common for all notified posts and is mainly qualifying/screening in nature.
CBT-II (Second Stage)
- CBT-II is technical and specific to the post applied (detailed syllabus and marks for CBT-II are given in the notification).
- Expect engineering subject questions (core technical areas), some aptitude/reasoning and possibly general awareness elements depending on the post.
- Normalization & cutoffs: RRBs normalize CBT scores (if exams across shifts). Shortlisting for CBT-II / DV is by normalized score and category cutoffs.

Documents to keep ready
- Valid personal email ID & active mobile number (for OTPs).
- Scanned passport-size photograph (color, plain background). Typical RRB spec: 30–70 KB, JPEG. Keep 12 similar prints ready.
- Scanned signature in running hand (30–70 KB JPEG).
- Class X / Matric certificate (for DOB proof).
- Degree / Diploma certificate and marksheet(s) (relevant qualifying exam).
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) — if applicable (PDF up to 500 KB).
- PwBD certificate — if applicable.
- Ex-servicemen / service discharge certificate — if applicable.
- Photo ID proof (Aadhaar / Voter / PAN / Passport) — keep scanned copy.

Medium of Examination
The CBT will be conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. |
Step-by-step: How to apply online
- Read the full notification PDF carefully (post-wise eligibility, exam centres, fee rules, important instructions).
- Create an account on rrbapply.gov.in (or the designated RRB zone link). Use a mobile number & e-mail you control. If you already created an account for 2025 CENs, use the same credentials.
- Important: Once created, you may not be allowed to change mobile/email — enter them correctly.
- Login to the portal using your credentials. Choose CEN No. 05/2025 — JE application.
- Fill personal details (name, DOB, father’s name, category etc.) — exactly as per your certificates. Small mismatches cause rejections later.
- Choose post(s) and RRB zone carefully — you’ll be applying for specific post-codes; make sure you meet the post-wise educational criteria.
- Upload documents (photo, signature, category certificate, education docs) in the specified format and size. Preview each upload.
- Pay application fee online (Debit/Credit Card, Net banking, UPI).
- Preview the full form. Verify everything — name spellings, DOB, post & zone selection, uploaded files.
- Submit the application. After submission, download/print the final application receipt and keep multiple copies.
- Take printouts of the completed application and keep the same photograph (you used for the form) for future stages.
