Information: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have officially announced the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 for admission into prestigious management programmes such as MBA, PGDM, and doctoral-level courses offered by IIMs and other top B-schools in India. The application window for CAT 2025 is now open on the official website iimcat.ac.in, and eligible candidates can register between August 1 and September 13, 2025.

CAT remains one of the most competitive national-level MBA entrance exams in India, opening doors to 20 IIMs and over 1000 other business schools.

Important Dates

  • Online Registration Begins: 01 August 2025
  • Last Date to Apply: 13 September 2025
  • Admit Card Release: 05 November 2025
  • Exam Date: 30 November 2025
  • Result Declaration: 1st Week of January 2026

Application Fee 

  • General / EWS / NC-OBC Candidates: ₹2600/-
  • SC / ST / PwD Candidates: ₹1300/-
    Payment is to be made online only, through credit card, debit card, UPI, internet banking, or mobile wallets.

Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2025

To be eligible for CAT 2025, candidates must meet any one of the following academic qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least:
    • 50% marks for General, EWS, and NC-OBC categories.
    • 45% marks for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
  2. Professional Degree Holders such as:
    • CA (Chartered Accountant)
    • CS (Company Secretary)
    • ICWA
    • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI)
  3. Final Year Students of Bachelor’s programmes can also apply, provided they submit required documents within the deadline set by the respective IIM.

There is no age limit to apply for CAT.

Exam Pattern Overview

CAT 2025 will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The paper is divided into three sections:

  1. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC)
  2. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
  3. Quantitative Ability (QA)
  • Total duration: 120 minutes (40 minutes per section)
  • Type of Questions: MCQs & Non-MCQs (TITA)
  • Negative Marking: -1 for each incorrect MCQ; no negative marking for non-MCQs.

How to Apply for CAT 2025

Follow these steps to complete your online registration:

  1. Go to https://iimcat.ac.in
  2. Click on “Register” and create a User ID and Password.
  3. Fill the online application form with personal, academic, and work experience details.
  4. Upload the required documents:
    • Recent passport-sized photograph
    • Signature
    • Caste/Disability certificates (if applicable)
  5. Select your preferred test cities (up to 6).
  6. Pay the application fee and submit the form.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure all information is filled correctly; incomplete forms may be rejected.
  • Keep your scanned documents ready: photo, signature, degree certificates, etc.
  • Read the official notification thoroughly before applying.
